Thank you! :) he died at 88, which is quite an advanced age considering the era he lived in. Good genes, or maybe it was also thanks to his balanced diet…

I'm curious about the fennel soup. Could you buy soup readymade? Did it come in a jug? Or maybe he just means the ingredients to make it.

Yes, I had the same doubt as well... Considering it was meant for the third meal in the list, I ultimately thought it referred to the ingredients for the fennel soup. By the way, in the second part of this article, I will publish the recipe for a fennel soup that I found in an Italian cookbook from Michelangelo's time. Perhaps, back in 1518, Michelangelo ate something similar.
